Description

Levenhuk Rainbow D2L 0.3M Digital Microscope, Moonstone is a perfect gift for a schoolkid. This microscope allows you to conduct a variety of interesting experiments with ready-to-use microscope samples, as well as with objects that surround you in your everyday life and attract your interest. Thanks to the digital camera included in the kit, you can also save the results of your studies. Even a beginning researcher can make truly impressive images and videos and share them with friends on Facebook or Instagram.

High-quality optics
The lenses are made of a special optical glass of high transparency. All optical surfaces are coated with multiple layers of anti-reflective coating – that’s why the microscope creates sharp, contrast, highly detailed images of observed samples. Three objectives allow you to obtain a wide range of magnification from 40x to 400x. You can easily change magnification by turning the revolving nosepiece.

Digital Camera Features
The microscope comes with a high-quality 0.3Mpx digital camera. The camera needs to be set into the eyepiece tube (instead of an eyepiece) and then connected to the computer using the included USB cable. Enlarged images of observed samples will be displayed on your PC monitor, which is much more convenient then viewing through the microscope eyepiece. Moreover, you will be able to make beautiful pictures and videos of observed samples. Almost any researcher wants to share the results of studies with others – with Levenhuk Rainbow D2L 0.3M Digital Microscope, Moonstone you can easily do that. Diversify Facebook's news feed by posting something truly interesting and informative, like images of magnified sugar crystals or videos of moving Artemia.

A USB cable (included in the kit) is used as camera power supply and for connection with a PC. Compatible OS: Windows, Mac OS, Linux.

Observing transparent and opaque samples
The microscope is equipped with two LED illumination systems. Using the lower illumination, you can observe transparent samples such as microorganisms in a water drop or thin slices of plants. The upper illumination allows you to observe opaque objects - leaves, coins, fabric, paper, and more. To observe semi-transparent objects you will need both illuminations. The brightness is adjustable for a better view of a particular sample.

Convenient design
The microscope body is made of quality plastic – it is much lighter than metal, but still quite reliable and allows for frequent use. The 45-degrees inclined monocular head allows for the most convenient viewing position. The illumination can be powered by an outlet or batteries. The digital camera is powered by the computer via a USB cable.

Caution: Please refer to the specifications table for the correct mains voltage and never attempt to plug a 110V device into 220V outlet and vice versa without using a converter. Remember that mains voltage in the U.S. and Canada is 110V and 220-240V in most European countries.

The kit includes everything needed to explore the Microcosm
The microscope comes with Levenhuk K50 Experiment Kit. The kit includes everything a beginning biologist may want – starting with ready-to-use microscope slides and ending with special tools for preparing your own samples. The user guide has all necessary information about the microscope, recommendations and tips for its use, and experiment descriptions.

Questions and Answers
kjonca (2019.12.23)
"Is there any additional information you might need? "

Yes. What protocol you use to communicate. I have no Windows computer, so if it is not standard protocol, I would buy somewhere else.
Customer service:
Our microscope cameras are compatible with Linux Ubuntu 14.04. You can find them here online: https://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/accessories/microscope-accessories/microscope-digital-cameras/
Is there any additional information you might need?
kjonca (2019.12.22)
How your microscope cameras are contacting with computer? Is it MTP/PTP protocol? I want to use it under Linux but I do not know if it will work.
Customer service:
Dear Kjonca, thank you for interest in Levenhuk products. The camera is connected via USB 2.0. System requirements: Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 (32 and 64 bit). Is there any additional information you might need?
Val Sullivan (2018.01.26)
Hello, Levenhuk! Which microscope would you recommend for shooting and video recording of live objects from 0.5mm? (transparent and opaque samples in a Petri dish, I need to see the whole object, not its structure). I‘m choosing between Levenhuk Rainbow D2L and D50L.
Customer service:
Levenhuk Rainbow D50L PLUS 2M Digital Microscope, Moonstone is better suited for this purpose.
Elly (2017.11.29)

Is this model suitable for beginning explorers of the micro world?
Customer service:
Levenhuk Rainbow D2L 0.3M Digital Microscope, Moonstone is a wonderful model for both beginners and experienced users.
Emma Stone (2017.03.28)
Hello. Tell me please, in order to see bacteria, for example, infusorians, should I buy an eyepiece? And what can I see using a basic kit?
Customer service:
The basic configuration of the Levenhuk Rainbow 2L Moonstone microscope is sufficient to observe protozoa. You can observe prepared samples, thin sections, insects, and plants.
Mathew (2016.12.13)
Why you claim that this microscope has 40-400x magnification, while eyepieces included with it only have 4x, 16x, and 40x magnification (that means up to 40x). In my opinion it is too low for a 200$ instrument... 40x can be achieved with a simple magnifying glass for 10 bucks. Maybe there's a typo in the description
Customer service:
No, there's no typo, all of the information provided is correct. Levenhuk Rainbow D2L 0.3M Digital Microscope, Moonstone does provide 40-400x magnification power. To calculate magnification all you need to do is multiply the eyepiece magnification by the magnification of the objective lens. A typical compound microscope with a 10x eyepiece and 4x, 10x, and 40x objective lenses provides 40x, 100x, or 400x magnification depending on the lens used.
