The Levenhuk 870T is a trinocular biological microscope for brightfield observations in transmitted light. It is used in different types of medical centers for urological, dermatological, biological, biochemical, anatomopathological, cytological, and general clinical laboratory research. The microscope can be equipped with a digital camera to output images to an external screen, take photos, and record video. The camera must be purchased separately and is installed in the trinocular tube.

The head can also be tilted 30°. This tilt is comfortable for long-term work. The interpupillary distance is adjustable. The eyepieces have a wide field of view, and so it is convenient for the user to work with large samples. Four plan achromatic objectives are mounted in a revolving nosepiece that is oriented toward the interior. In this position, you can see the objective, and the space above the table is free.

There is no positioning rack on the stage and that improves the ergonomics of the device. The horizontal stage knob is located low for user comfort. The specimen holder is designed for two samples. The focusing knobs allow for coarse and fine focusing adjustment. All of the stage movements are smooth with no jerkiness.

The light source is located under the stage and the Abbe condenser. The LED is brightness-controlled and is powered by 220V. Thanks to LED illumination, the resolution of the microscope is higher than that of analogs with halogen bulbs. Both aperture and field diaphragms make it possible to set up the Köhler illumination.

Key features:

  • For brightfield microscopy in transmitted light at magnifications from 40 to 1000x
  • Trinocular head with a vertical tube for mounting a digital camera
  • Plan achromatic objectives, wide-field eyepieces, revolving nosepiece oriented toward the interior
  • Light source: LED, Köhler illumination, powered by AC power supply

Questions and Answers
Radovan Gofjar (2021.06.04)
We have many halogen bulbs on the market. G4 20W 6V, but they have various luminous intensity. One has 350 lm, another 320 lm, and there is one expensive with 760 lm. I tried 280 lm, but it's very low intensity I think. Is here any technical specification for bulb? Thanks for quick answer anyway :) And sorry for my english, I am from Europe.
Customer service:
Dear Radovan, thank you for interest in Levenhuk products. The main specification is 20W 6V. There is no limit for lm specification. Is there any additional information you might need?
Radovan Gofjar (2021.06.03)
Hi, can you help me - second time - what bulb type I need to use to replace old? I know just 6V 20W but what luminity? Thanks.
Customer service:
Dear Radovan, thank you for your inquiry.
What do you mean by luminity?
Radovan Gofjar (2021.05.19)
Hi, can I ask - is this microscope compatible with infinity objectives? Thanks.

I want to buy a darkfield condenser for this microscope. I'm upset that this 870T doesn't come with a real darkfield condenser. Can you tell me the size of the condenser mount so I can add myself ?
Customer service:
Dear Nick, thank you for your inquiry. The size of the condenser should be the same as the size of the condenser on your microscope. We've requested the data from our product manager as well. The result will be provided shortly.
nick (2017.10.02)
how do I attach my c-mount camera to this ? (such as nikon 1 or m43 that has c-mount adapter attached)
Customer service:
Dear Nick, thank you for your interest in Levenhuk products. You just need to insert the camera to the tube. The diameter is 23.2 mm. So, if you have another size, you will need to use the adapter that can be purchased in your local camera store. We also have a big choice of microscope cameras. Is there any additional information you might need?
Terry Wells (2017.06.11)
Do I need to tint the bacteria while using a darkfield method? What is more efficient, tinting the bacteria or the darkfield method? If tinting is more efficient, which coloring should I use?
Customer service:
When studying the bacteria, you need to tint them in any case. Food colorings will be perfect.
Max Foster (2017.06.01)
Sorry for the frequent questions. What do I do if the oil spot on the immersion lens has dried?
Customer service:
Try to gently wipe the lens with the soft, dust-free cloth before trying to clean it with alcohol or other aggressive cleaning liquid. You can also use a piece of Styrofoam. First, remove the contaminated lens from the revolver. Rub the frontal lens with by tapping on it lightly with a piece of Styrofoam and turning it around. Dry foam material cleans the frontal lens from dirt (such as immersion oil) really well. You can easily check it by removing the eyepiece from the holder, turning it over and using it as a magnifying glass, keeping it at an acute angle over the front lens. You can simply see through this 10x magnifying glass if the front lens is clean or not. If not, repeat the procedure one more time. Then wipe the lens one more time, check it under the "magnifying glass" and put it back in place.
Willard (2017.05.30)

Sandra Bess (2013.08.21)
Bought 970T from you. There is no user manual in the kit. The views are highly blurred when observing with 20x eyepieces. My questions - 1. where do I put filters? 2. why there is a mirror in the kit?
Customer service:
You can always find the User Manual on-line on our website on the product page on the References and Downloads tab. Filter should be placed in the filter holder on the diaphragm.
A mirror can be used as a light source instead of the lamp.
Sandra Bess (2013.08.18)
3. I am also interested in diameter of the third eyepiece
Customer service:
The third eyepiece’s diameter is around 1 inch.

Attaching SLR cameras is not supported by microscope construction. We suggest you use digital cameras designed specifically for this purpose:
Sandra Bess (2013.08.17)
1. then how to attach digital cameras you suggest to the third eyepiece if its diameter is 1 inch and camera adapters are 0.9-1.2 inches?
2. is a beam of light between binocular and the camera being controlled?
Customer service:
1. Trinocular has standard diameter. Adapters included in the kit are only needed for attaching a camera to the microscopes with another diameter.
2. Yes, a beam of light between binocular and the camera is controlled.
Darrell (2013.07.20)
Is it possible to insert illumination source in the third eyepiece to get quality images in reflected light?
Customer service:
Unfortunately, that cannot be done.
andrew hill (2013.07.09)
PLAN eyepieces is a good thing, but I was asking about objective lenses. The description on the site says: Objective lenses 4x, 10x, 40x, 100x PLAN, and at the same time it is stated in the user manual: DIN achromatic objective lenses.
Customer service:
Included in the standard kit of this model are PLAN objective lenses.
Sam Conwell (2013.06.29)
Hi! Do you have a C-mount adapter for attaching a digital camera to this microscope?
Customer service:
Unfortunately we don't have this adapter in our product range.
Steve Sumrall (2013.06.19)
Thank you, no need to explain anymore, I figured it out myself.
Customer service:
Thank you for your feedback.
Steve Sumrall (2013.06.19)
Please explain how to use immersion objective correctly. I mean for me it seems that I do everything exactly as it's said in manual: I drip immersion oil on the cover glass and lower objective lens so it touches the oil… but I can't see anything, only white spot. Maybe I need to apply some oil on the condenser as well?
Customer service:
The oil immersion objective (usually 100x or more) is designed for use with a drop of special oil, placed between it and the specimen. First you should focus on the area of specimen that you are going to observe using oil immersion objective. Then carefully place a drop of immersion oil on the cover slip over that area, and lower the oil immersion lens into place.
George Bates (2013.05.27)
Hello. Where can I buy oil of these two types - A and B? And which of them magnifies more or what's the difference between them? Thank you. Can a vegetable oil be used? I want to purchase Levenhuk_c800 camera and Levenhuk 870T Biological Trinocular Microscope. I need your guidance.
Customer service:
Unfortunately we don’t have immersion oil in our product range.
Type A is a classic immersion oil
Used as immersion liquid while working with apochromatic and achromatic objective lenses of microscopes of all types, except fluorescence microscopes, in visible spectrum.
Type B is a professional immersion oil
Used as immersion liquid while working with apochromatic and achromatic objective lenses of microscopes of all types, except fluorescence microscopes, in visible spectrum. Intended for microscopes with artificial illumination and image viewing system first of all. Compared to the classic immersion oil, immersion oil of B type has lower velocity and higher light transmittance.
No, vegetable oil cannot be used.
Do you want to process with the order?
