Description

This telescope is specifically designed for those who want to explore space but who do not know where to begin. It is a classic refractor that features simple controls, solid optical performance, and a rugged build. Thanks to its alt-azimuth mount, you can skip the complicated setup. It works just like a spotting scope. Simply point, focus, and look.

What you can see

The Levenhuk New Skyline BASE 70/700 AZ2 is an excellent planetary telescope. On a clear night, you can see the Moon in incredible detail, with its mountains, craters, and vast lunar seas. You can spot Jupiter’s disk and its four bright moons as tiny dots, Saturn with its famous rings, and the changing phases of Mars and Venus.

Even though this telescope specializes in planets, bright deep-sky objects are also well within your reach. You can make out double stars like Albireo, the Orion Nebula, the Hercules globular cluster, the Andromeda Galaxy, and many other Messier catalog objects. They won’t look like the colorful photos you see online – instead, they will appear as small hazy patches. However, seeing them with your own eyes is a thrill you will never forget.

You can also use this telescope for daytime landscape viewing. The kit includes a diagonal mirror that provides an upright image, correcting the inverted view that is typical of all refractors. Whenever you need it, the telescope easily doubles as a powerful spotting scope.

Everything you need is in the box

The telescope comes with two eyepieces. Start with the 25mm eyepiece. It provides low magnification and a wide field of view, making it perfect for scanning the night sky or looking at the Moon. Then, switch to the 10mm eyepiece for detailed planetary views. If you need higher magnification in order to examine a lunar crater, for example, the kit also includes a 2x Barlow lens that doubles the magnification of any eyepiece. This means that you get four different magnification options right from the start so you can study any astronomical or landscape target.

The aluminum tripod is fully height adjustable. It allows you to adapt the telescope for any observer, whether an adult or a child. A convenient accessory tray keeps your eyepieces and other accessories within easy reach so that you will never lose them in the dark. For fast target hunting, the telescope features an optical finderscope. Just aim the finderscope at an object, and that object will immediately appear in the main telescope’s field of view.

Who this telescope is for
