The compact Levenhuk New Skyline BASE MAK 70/1000 AZ-M is a perfect choice for beginner astronomers. It is easy to use, comes with everything you need to get started, and reveals plenty of nearby cosmic wonders: the Moon, Saturn’s rings, Jupiter’s moons, the phases of Venus, and more. You can observe Earth’s satellite in fascinating detail: You will see craters (over 8km across), vast mountain ranges, seas, and rilles along the terminator line. While the telescope is optimized for planetary observation, under good conditions with a perfectly dark sky, you can also spot dozens of bright star clusters, like the Pleiades and the Beehive Cluster, sparkling as a field of brilliant stars against the black velvet sky.
The Levenhuk New Skyline BASE MAK 70/1000 AZ-M features optical glass lenses with two specialized coatings for the best possible image quality. The first is an aluminum coating that boosts the system’s reflectivity and protects the optics. The second is a broadband anti-reflection coating that enhances contrast and eliminates stray reflections. The result is crisp, high-contrast images with excellent magnification and resolution.
A key feature is the alt-azimuth mount, which has a large, ergonomic pan handle that is conveniently located on the observer’s right. This handle makes aiming the telescope effortless, and a handy lock at the top secures the telescope in place with one simple move. The mount also allows for classic fine-tuning with two slow-motion control knobs.
The mount sits on a sturdy aluminum tripod with a height range from 57.5cm to 141.5cm. A practical accessory tray attaches to the tripod legs, keeping everything within reach. The telescope also comes with essential accessories: a 5x24 optical finderscope, 10mm and 20mm eyepieces, a 90° diagonal mirror, and a smartphone adapter. For safe transport and storage, both the optical tube and the tripod have their own sturdy carrying bags. The tube attaches via a Vixen-style dovetail bar.
