Description

The Levenhuk Ra 200N Dobson telescope is a 200mm Newtonian reflector for observing deep sky objects, including star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies. You can also observe the planets of the solar system: Mars, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, etc. as well as their satellites. A demanding user who wants a comprehensive observation experience will like this telescope. The telescope is easy to operate even for a beginner.

Parabolic primary mirror and active cooling of the optics

The primary mirror features a parabolic shape that minimizes optical distortion when observing at high magnifications. Its surface is covered with an aluminum coating with a reflectivity index of 92~96%. This has a positive effect on the contrast and brightness of the transmitted picture. You can adjust the focus with a dual-speed achromatic Crayford focuser. It is backlash-free and holds even heavy optical accessories securely for fast and accurate focusing.

The back cover of the telescope tube features a cooling fan. It makes the thermo stabilization of optics almost two times faster so that you can start observations much faster. The fan runs on batteries (purchased separately).

Dobsonian mount with an improved brake system side bearing for smooth tube movement

The telescope features a classic Dobsonian mount. It has a conventional design and all of the advantages of this mount type, but at the same time its mechanics has been significantly improved. A special brake system side bearing for smooth tube movement allows you to move the optical tube a few centimeters up or down. When using additional attachments, this will quickly balance the telescope and maximize stability.

There are scales on the mount sides for convenient balancing. In addition, the bearings are durable and provide a smoother movement, which is important when using the telescope at high magnifications.

Quick start kit

The telescope kit includes two eyepieces with a different focal length and an 8x50mm finder. They will allow you to start observations right away.

Eddie Jeffrey (2015.11.06)
Will you be getting any more of these in stock? It seems like a very good deal.
Customer service:
Dear Eddie, thank you for interest in Levenhuk products! I regret to inform you that we do not expect to receive this model this year for sure.Is there any additional information you might need?
Luis Rowe (2015.08.17)
Hello! What filter set would you recommend for this telescope? Thanks!
Customer service:
Solar System Levenhuk F8 Filter Set - http://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/accessories/telescope-accessories/telescope-filters/levenhuk-solar-system-f8-filter-set/ .
Toy Fox (2015.07.26)
What is the telescope's highest practical power? What eyepieces are better for this telescope?
Customer service:
The maximum useful magnification of a telescope is approximately twice the diameter of the objective lens or mirror. In this case it will be about 400x. You should choose an eyepiece according to your particular needs, please refer to this article - http://www.levenhuk.com/blog/knowledge-base-telescopes/a-short-guide-to-choosing-eyepieces/
Shaun Spence (2015.07.07)
is it suitable for astrophotography? If the answer is yes, then what T-ring will I need to attach Canon EOS 650D camera? Thanks in advance.
Customer service:
Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob Telescope is perfect for visual observations. For astrophotography you will need quality equatorial mount with motor drive, allowing for tracking celestial objects and long exposure. That's why this model is not suitable for this purpose.
Paul Morris (2015.02.27)
I have two questions:
1. Should I use Barlow lens with this telescope?
2. Will I notice significant difference in quality, replacing Super Kellner 3.6 mm with Super Kellner 4 mm?
Customer service:
1. To obtain higher magnification power with Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob we recommend using eyepieces instead of Barlow lens.
2. There will be no significant change in quality.
william (2015.01.09)
do you have a solar filter for the ra 200n
Customer service:
Dear William, thank you for your inquiry. Currently, we do not have the solar filter for this model.
Is there any additional information you might need?
Mark Pruitt (2014.12.12)
Thank you. If I get it right with 4 mm eyepiece I will get 300x, but this scope is capable of 400x. Or maybe image quality will be unsatisfactory?
Customer service:
Yes, you are correct, the highest practical power of the Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob telescope is 400x, but such extreme magnification implies a loss in image quality.
Mark Pruitt (2014.12.12)
Hello! Which accessory is better suited for Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob? 3x Barlow lens or 3 mm eyepiece?
Customer service:
The best choice for Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob would be 4 mm eyepiece.
jessie strong (2014.12.12)
Could you help me to choose between Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob and Levenhuk Skyline 130x900 EQ. The first model has larger objective lens but it costs less then 130x900 EQ. So what are their pros and cons? I want to observe deep-sky, planets as well. Maybe you have similar models, but cheaper? Thanks in advance!
Customer service:
Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob Telescope is perfect for visual observations due to its large diameter of the objective lens. Levenhuk Skyline 130x900 EQ on the other hand will be a preferable choice if you want to use it for astrophotography. Its equatorial mount ensures easy tracking of celestial objects.
Miguel (2014.11.17)
Hello! To mount this telescope on an equatorial mount (eq 6 for example), will I need to buy something additionally?
Customer service:
You will need special fasteners that are currently not available at the Levenhuk online store.
Jared Ray (2014.10.01)
Hi! I have been thinking of buying a telescope for about a year now, but I still can't find the right one. First I wanted to buy a telescope with 76 mm aperture and later I changed my mind and decided to pick a more powerful model (200 mm). But then I thought that this one would be too bulky for my apartment (I'm planning to use it mainly at home).
So I ask for your help. And also could you recommend some eyepieces, Barlow lenses and so on? I would like to observe Solar System planets and galaxies. Thank you very much in advance!
Customer service:
For your purposes Levenhuk Skyline PRO 90 MAK will be an ideal choice. We also recommend the following accessories: Levenhuk Plossl 9 mm Eyepiece (magnification will be 138x) - http://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/accessories/telescope-accessories/telescope-eyepieces/levenhuk-plossl-9mm-eyepiece/ and Levenhuk 2x Barlow Lens - http://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/accessories/telescope-accessories/telescope-barlow-lenses/levenhuk-2x-barlow-lens/ .
Sam (2014.09.16)
Does the kit include an adapter for 1.25" eyepieces or should I order it separately?
Customer service:
Yes, the Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob Telescope kit includes 1.25" adapter.
Jason Andrews (2014.09.14)
Greetings! Tell me please, does the kit include an extension tube? for a camera? Thank you!
Customer service:
The Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob Telescope kit does not include an extension tube.
Anthony (2014.09.02)
Good day. On 02/05/2014 Brian wrote: "You need to remove that plastic collar off the secondary mirror. Otherwise, there is a risk of astigmatism if the temperature is high below zero." Could you please describe how it's done? Thank you in advance.
Customer service:
We don't recommend you to perform such manipulations on the Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob telescope. Any self made modification in telescope construction voids the lifetime warranty.
Dustin Walton (2014.06.16)
What is the field of view (in degrees) of eyepieces included in the kit?
Customer service:
It's 50 degrees for Plossl 9 mm eyepiece and 68 degrees for Super View 30 mm eyepiece.
Rosita (2014.06.13)
Do I need to buy a Barlow lens for this telescope?
Customer service:
It's more reasonable to use eyepieces such as Levenhuk Plossl 4 mm Eyepiece - http://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/accessories/telescope-accessories/telescope-eyepieces/levenhuk-plossl-4mm-eyepiece/ and Levenhuk Ra WA 82°, 7 mm Eyepiece - http://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/accessories/levenhuk-ra-wa-82-7mm-eyepiece/ .
Leroy (2014.06.06)
What do I need to buy in addition to this telescope to get the best observations? Eyepieces, motor drives...?
Customer service:
Please, consider the following products: Levenhuk Ra LER 3 mm Eyepiece - http://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/accessories/telescope-accessories/telescope-eyepieces/levenhuk-ra-ler-3mm-1-25-eyepiece/ ; Solar System Levenhuk F8 Filter Set - http://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/accessories/telescope-accessories/telescope-filters/levenhuk-solar-system-f8-filter-set/ . Suitable motor drives unfortunately are not available in our store at the moment.
Nil Coughan (2014.06.03)
Regarding the warranty I have no further questions, I followed the link, thanks.
The telescope is definitely worth buying, it's a pity that it's necessary to purchase additional eyepieces... Is it possible to replace the eyepieces that come in the kit with Plossl eyepieces for additional payment?
Customer service:
Unfortunately the kit of Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob Telescope can not be changed. Other eyepieces can be bought separately.
Nil Coughan (2014.06.03)
Good day! What do you mean by 'lifetime warranty'? I'm pretty experienced in astronomy and have a Newtonian telescope. If the warranty is lifetime then what exactly does it cover and what are the 'rules'? Thank you. Perhaps you will attract one more loyal customer.
Customer service:
Levenhuk lifetime warranty applies only to defects and malfunctions occurred due to the manufacturer fault. Warranty does not cover defects or problems caused by mechanical damage, improper handling, storage or transportation, repair, or modifications made not by Levenhuk. You can further details here - www.levenhuk.com/terms-and-conditions/levenhuk-lifetime-warranty/
Jeff Parker (2014.06.02)
What is the exact weight of the telescope with the mount?
Customer service:
The total weight of the Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob telescope is 58.4 lbs.
Chris (2014.04.26)
Hi! Specifications table reads that optical tube weight is only about 20 lbs. Is this a typo?
Customer service:
There are no mistakes, provided information on Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob Telescope is correct.
Stacey Sharp (2014.03.04)
Tripod is not included in the kit, is it? Where am I supposed to put it? Should I order it separately?
Customer service:
Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob model comes with unassembled Dobsonial mount. It is really easy to assemble, everything needed is included in the kit. All you need to do: put assembled mount on a flat surface, set the telescope tube in special fasteners, fasten the springs and start your observation, manually adjusting telescope position. There is no need in tripod, so it's not supplied.
Robert Swanson (2014.03.02)
Hi! I'm trying to choose between this one and Levenhuk Strike 950 PRO. To be honest I'm a bit lost here. Which one should I choose? I want to observe the Moon and Solar system planets in details. Thanks!
Customer service:
Due to Maksutov-Cassegrain optical design Levenhuk Strike 950 PRO Telescope is better for lunar and planetary observations. Although judging by magnification the Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob model would be a preferable choice (due to larger primary mirror diameter).
Albert Wells (2014.02.07)
the third question: Besides planets and satellites I'd like to observe the Sun itself ! Which filters or accessories would you recommend me? Is this telescope even suitable for such purpose at all? Maybe I need this filter: Levenhuk 127 mm Solar Filter?
Customer service:
Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob Telescope is perfect for solar observations. But, unfortunately, the Levenhuk 127 mm solar filter won't fit.
Albert Wells (2014.02.07)
The second question: what filter should I use for detailed lunar observations? What's the difference between different colored filters?
Customer service:
Solar System Levenhuk F4 Filter Set includes filters suitable for detailed observations of the Moon. Optical filters differ in light transmittance, you can find the table of recommended use of Levenhuk filers here: http://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/accessories/telescope-accessories/telescope-filters/levenhuk-solar-system-f4-filter-set/
Albert Wells (2014.02.07)
Hi Levenhuk! I've got a question about filters. You see, I need them for my Ra 200N Dob. So here I go: Is it possible to use this set: {{ {{ http://www.levenhuk.com/products/com-filters_f4_solar_system_set/.link.link }} }} with my telescope? P.s: I want to be able to observe not only planets but also their moons.
Customer service:
Yes, Solar System Levenhuk F4 Filter Set is a perfect fit for your telescope.
Albert Wells (2014.02.06)
Thanks for the answer! I've got one more question.
I've decided to pick Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob model (seems that price-quality ratio is pretty good). I must say that I have a couple requirements to my future telescope: 1) I really wanna examine solar system planets with max possible magnification and detalisation. 2) I wanna examine geostationary satellites (it must be so interesting!). Please tell me if I need some extra accessories or maybe another telescope?
Customer service:
Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob Telescope is perfect for your purposes! We also recommend you to use the Levenhuk Ra LER 6 mm Eyepiece (http://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/accessories/telescope-accessories/telescope-eyepieces/levenhuk-ra-ler-6mm-1-25-eyepiece/ ) and also optical filters.
Brian Sharp (2014.02.05)
You need to remove that plastic collar off the secondary mirror. Otherwise, there is a risk of astigmatism if the temperature is high below zero.
Customer service:
Thank you for your feedback.
Brian Sharp (2014.02.04)
Is it allowed to remove the telescope tube from the mount or it's not recommended?
Customer service:
Yes, you can take the tube of the Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob model off the mount but you surely should not disassemble the mount.
Julius Hicks (2014.01.28)
Is it possible to install a motor drive?
Customer service:
Unfortunately, there's no possibility of installing motor drive on Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob telescope.
Kevin Wang (2014.01.26)
Can I attach Nikon Coolpix L27 camera to it? Or only SLR cameras work??
Customer service:
Yes, with the Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob telescope you can use only SLR cameras.
terrance (2014.01.03)
How about optics in Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob telescope? It's just recently I hear some complaints on GSO's mirrors for example…
Customer service:
Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob telescope has a parabolic primary mirror made of ВК-7 glass; the same as used in similar models manufactured by GSO, Meade and others. Many men, many minds. We recommend these telescopes due to their reasonable price, premium quality, ease of use and other advantages.
Arthur (2013.12.05)
Hello! Globular star clusters look as they are supposed to through this telescope!! (not just like some blurry spots)
Customer service:
Thank you for your feedback on Levenhuk Ra 200N Dob Telescope!
gerry (2013.07.28)
Are the mirrors overcoated with silicon dioxide or something similar?
Customer service:
Hello Gerry, thank you for interest in Levenhuk products! Please note, all optical elements are made of top-quality BK-7 glass. The mirror is covered with silicon dioxide. Is there any additional information you might need? Looking forward to your reply.
Nancy Goldman (2013.07.18)
Do you have an automatic guidance system for this telescope? Is it possible to automatically track objects to take astrophotos?
Customer service:
This product, unfortunately, is not available in our store.
Kurt Saks (2013.07.17)
Ca I see Pluto and Charon?? Is it possible to see newt and satellites of Mars - Deimos and Phobos?
Customer service:
From time to time it's possible to see Mars' satellites Phobos and Deimos. Pluto can be seen as a tiny star. Charon unfortunately can't be seen.
Nancy Goldman (2013.07.17)
The telescope Dobson Levenhuk Ra 200N. I want to tell you about its prons and cons. Cons: massive, heavy. It's difficult to navigate on the object. Pros: sharp image, you can 'walk' along the Moon's surface from crater to crater. What about observing planets: it gives you a very detailed picture. You can see stars and nebulae, and Andromeda galaxy is already not just a blurred spot, but you can really see its center. Stars are really impressive, among them I prefer Vega and Arcturus star. Vega is bluish-white, very bright. Arcturus has reddish color, bright and piercing as well. For astrophotography and even more for astro video I suggest buying 3-4x Barlow lens with T-adapter. I shot with Nex-4, 2x cheap barlow. The sky was covered with clouds in the mean time. So I definitely recommend to start with this instrument.
Customer service:
Thank you for your feedback!
Kurt Saks (2013.07.16)
or in 250 mm it would be seen?
Customer service:
In this case it would be closer, but also as a small star. Even with the most massive and powerful telescope it's not possible to discern visible disks of asteroids.
Kurt Saks (2013.07.16)
Do you remember when the Chelyabinsk meteor fell, the asteroid DA 14 was passing by the Earth. So could I see this asteroid through this telescope? With my 50mm refractor I saw only a tiny moving star.
Customer service:
In this case it would be closer, but also as a small star. Even with the most massive and powerful telescope it's not possible to discern visible disks of asteroids.
Kurt Saks (2013.07.15)
Is it suitable for Uranus and Neptune observing? (even if not detailed) CAN I SEE Pluto?
Customer service:
You can see Uranus and Neptune in the form of small discs. You will be able to see the satellite of Neptune - Triton; Pluto appears as a tiny star.
Kurt Saks (2013.07.15)
How do Mars and the Sun look like? And can I see spiral galaxy arms?
Customer service:
You will be able to see sunspots structure, large clouds and dust storms on Mars, spiral arms of galaxies.
Kurt Saks (2013.07.15)
or maybe I can take pictures near the meridian with it? I wanna take photos of Uranus, Neptune and Saturn so much! Thank you in advance! I really liked this telescope. I think I'm gonna order it immediately))
Customer service:
Of course, an equatorial drive mount will suit better, but with Dobson you can get quality pictures as well (including Uranus, Neptune, Jupiter).
Kurt Saks (2013.07.15)
Could you possibly equip this telescope with a dobson mount with hour drive. The budget is about 600$.
Customer service:
Unfortunately, there's no such possibility.
Kurt Saks (2013.07.15)
Is it possible to install this telescope on equatorial mount EQ 1 or 2?
Customer service:
Unfortunately, there's no such possibility.
Kurt Saks (2013.07.15)
Is it possible to take pictures of the Moon and planets without long exposure through this telescope?
Customer service:
Exposure time should be from 1 to 10 seconds, depending on the brightness of the planet.
James (2013.04.22)
On the images on the website I see that this telescope is equipped with 2x Crayford focuser, so it comes with this model or it's just a publicity stunt? What similar models do you have in the product range?
Customer service:
Yes, it comes with a dual-speed Crayford focuser. Also this model is equipped with a cooling fan. Please pay attention to the following model: http://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/telescopes/levenhuk-ra-250n-dob-telescope/
