Description

Levenhuk Strike 50 NG is a wonderful telescope for kids, perfect for observations of constellations, lunar craters, sunspots, atmospheric flows of Jupiter and its four largest moons, phases of Venus, rings of Saturn, and binary stars with a separation of 2.5 arcseconds between their components; and all this you get straight from the box.

The entry model of the Strike NG series was designed as a telescope for children and teenagers. The altazimuth mount is easy to set up; and the optics included in the kit provide the highest practical power of 200x, allowing both terrestrial and astronomical observations.

Levenhuk Strike NG Telescopes are a brand new series for amateur astronomers. Levenhuk Strike NG telescopes are a wise choice for those who don't want to spend time assembling and adjusting a telescope, or browsing through an expansive list of accessories. Apart from the telescope itself, you also get the optics for astronomical and terrestrial observations, and informative astronomy handbooks for both amateurs and more advanced users. All this makes the Levenhuk Strike NG Telescope an ideal choice for any beginning astronomer interested in science.

The kit includes everything you will need to make your observations fascinating and captivating. The informative handbooks and advanced software allow even a beginner to find the desired object in the night sky. This amazing telescope comes in a colorful box, and would make a perfect gift for any aspiring astronomer, who would cherish it for many years to come.

The kit is far more advanced than you would expect

1. "See it all!" Astronomer's Handbook
This practical handbook will help any amateur plan and then enjoy stargazing. Written by a renowned expert, Alexander Shimbalev, it guides you through your first steps on the road to amazing discoveries. The book includes a number of star charts, listing the most interesting celestial objects. Commentaries help you orient yourself to the observation object and set up the telescope properly. Large-format prints showing the constellations and objects give you a preview of what the object should look like during your observations. This book takes you on a journey through the celestial sphere, where you will learn about 280 celestial objects and how to quickly locate them in the night sky, study the lunar surface, and observe the planets of the Solar System.

2. Stellarium is 3D planetarium software that allows you to see everything you can observe through a medium- or even high-powered telescope, including over 600,000 stars, planets of the Solar System, the Moon, nebulae and Milky Way galaxy. This software is capable of recreating a realistic sky in real time, providing you with panoramic views and allowing you to observe sunsets and sunrises, eclipses and comets without leaving your home. Now you can observe the sky even when it is raining cats and dogs outside.

3. Space Posters Set (Moon, Sun and Other Stars, Solar System)
Three posters showing the cosmos as we know it. Each poster presents interesting information on various celestial objects in an easy-to-read format. The posters are 84x60cm (33x24in), printed on glossy coated paper.

  • Moon Poster. You will find out about the history of lunar exploration, learn all the characteristics of the Earth's satellite, and find answers to many questions that interest mankind, including the nature of dark spots on the lunar surface.
  • Sun and Other Stars Poster. This poster shows you that even though the Sun provides heat and light for the planets in the Solar System, it is still far from being a cosmic giant, as there are stars hundreds and even thousands times larger than the Sun. The poster includes the main characteristics of the stars, such as their physical properties and their history.
  • Solar System Poster. You will learn a number of interesting facts on the planets of the Solar System, including their composition, physical characteristics and age. Some descriptions contain predictions on the future of discussed planets, which make this poster a ticket on a journey in space and time through the Solar System.

4. Planisphere
This is a rotating star chart that helps you quickly and easily determine what celestial objects may be observed at a given date and time. It allows you to locate specific constellations or other objects at certain latitudes for your planned observations. The planisphere is very easy to use: all you do is align the date on the star chart with a time on the viewer, and you will get an exact representation of the night sky. It is very reliable and will serve you for many years to come.

5. Compass
People often forget how useful a compass can be during observations. Quickly orienting yourself in an unfamiliar place and determining where north is can be very easy with this compact compass. Easily locating the North Pole, Polaris and the Big Dipper will allow you to quickly begin your observations.

The kit includes:

  • Levenhuk Strike NG Telescope on a Yoke mount
  • Stainless steel tripod
  • 0.965" plastic focuser
  • Two 0.965" eyepieces: F20mm, F6mm

Customer service:
You can see craters on the Moon, Saturn`s rings, cloud stripes and satellites of Jupiter, stars up to 11.5 stellar magnitude, spots on the Sun (only with an aperture solar filter), and many objects of the Messier catalog. However you won`t be able to make out any details. You won`t be able to observe galaxies using Levenhuk Strike 50 NG telescope.
Peter (2017.08.17)
Hello. Could you tell me please what do I need to do in order to use this telescope during the day time?
Customer service:
During daytime you can observe only ground objects using Levenhuk Skyline 76x700 AZ telescope. We recommend observing space objects in at nighttime, at a distance from cities, avoiding light pollution.
Robert A. Fenty, sr (2017.07.18)
I have no sight in one eye and I want to watch the birds in my yard on the feeders and bird houses..My binoculars are difficult to use and I was hoping that you might have a telescope fixed to a stand that would enable me to birdwatch....Thanks!
Bob Fenty
Customer service:
Dear Robert, thank you for interest in Levenhuk products! For your purpose, we'd recommend consider buying our spotting scope. It comes with a tripod and you will get a direct image. Please check our Levenhuk Blaze 50 Spotting Scope. Is there any additional information you might need?
Travis James (2017.05.29)
Hello. Could you tell me please, which telescope is better? Levenhuk Skyline 50x600 AZ or Levenhuk LabZZ T3?
Customer service:
We suggest choosing Levenhuk Skyline 50x600 AZ telescope
Jason Hill (2017.05.12)
Can I see Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Mercury and Saturn in this telescope?
Customer service:
Levenhuk Strike 50 NG telescope is the most suitable for Moon observations. You can also see Jupiter cloud stripes and its satellites. Uranus and Neptune will be visible in the form of small greenish stars.
alexander (2017.04.26)
What this thing will let me see?
Customer service:
With the Levenhuk Strike 50 NG telescope, you can watch the Moon. Other planets will be the size of peas.
Bridgit Regan (2017.04.06)
Hello. Is it possible to somehow upgrade kit optics to improve the picture. I really want to see the rings of Saturn clearly.
Customer service:
Unfortunately, it is not possible to use additional optics with the Levenhuk Strike 50 NG telescope.
Nick Greer (2016.10.31)
Is it convenient for terrestrial viewing?
Customer service:
Yes, Levenhuk Strike 50 NG telescope is convenient for terrestrial viewing.
Rene Kinsey (2016.08.25)
Is it suitable for Saturn viewing?
Customer service:
Saturn, when observed with Levenhuk Strike 50 NG Telescope, appears as a small pea.
Kenneth Tran (2016.05.30)
What objects can I see with such a small magnification power?
Customer service:
Levenhuk Strike 50 NG Telescope can be used for detailed lunar viewing, Solar System planets will be seen as small peas.
Kimberly Rowe (2016.05.24)
Hello! really like the instrument... But I have one question. When I observe Jupiter's moons using Barlow lens, the image gets very blurry, the same thing happens with terrestrial objects. What am I doing wrong?
Customer service:
Levenhuk Strike 50 NG Telescope used with a Barlow lens provides too strong magnification, therefore, images get blurry.
Henry Tristan (2016.04.27)
The box says magnification is 200x. So focal length is 600mm, the lens is 6mm, so we get 100x. How did you get 200x?
Customer service:
The kit of the Levenhuk Strike 50 NG telescope includes Barlow lens that provides for additional magnification.
Miguel Ramos (2016.03.17)
What is the magnification of the telescope with each eyepiece?
Customer service:
Levenhuk Strike 50 NG Telescope comes with F20 mm and F6 mm eyepieces that give you 30x and 100x magnification, respectively.
Marc Dewitt (2016.02.29)
Do I really need a lunar filter to observe the Moon? Thank you in advance!
Customer service:
The Earth's satellite reflects quite a large amount of the Sun's light, that is why our eyes get tired very quickly, and most of the details get lost. Lunar filter will cut down glare and reduce the Moon's brightness, showing us more details on its surface.
Tony Hankins (2016.02.26)
Hello! What filters are suitable for this telescope model?
Customer service:
Unfortunately, Levenhuk Strike 50 NG Telescope has a non-standard eyepiece barrel diameter. Such filters are not available in our store.
Jack Fields (2016.01.01)
When I look at street name signs the images are mirrored. Is it supposed to be like that? Or just wrong assembly?
Customer service:
As all other refractors, Levenhuk Strike 50 NG produces mirrored images (reversed left-to-right).
Wendy Clarke (2015.09.25)
Thanks a lot, everything's ok now! So what's the Barlow lens for?
Customer service:
The Barlow lens allows you to triple your magnification. But unfortunately is also deteriorates image quality.
Wendy Clarke (2015.09.25)
Hello! We've recently bought this telescope and yesterday we tried to observe the Moon. The Moon appears as a blurry spot, no craters at all... We also tried to change the accessories, but no improvement... What did we do wrong?
Customer service:
First, use F20mm eyepiece (without Barlow lens) - turn the focusing wheel very slowly until the image is sharp. To get higher magnification power you need to repeat the previous step using 6mm eyepiece. It would be better if you don't use the Barlow lens.
Jay Marsh (2015.09.24)
what additional accessories would you recommend for this telescope? Is it possible to equip this telescope with a larger objective lens?
Customer service:
Levenhuk Strike 50 NG Telescope has a non-standard barrel diameter. There's no possibility to attach additional accessories.
You can buy another optical tube (with larger diameter), but it is not reasonable, as the mount of the model won't be able to support it. We recommend that you consider another telescope model with larger objective lens diameter and more stable mounting system.
Lucas Morse (2015.07.02)
telescope's height?
Customer service:
The tripod's height is adjustable and ranges from 24.8 to 42.52 inches (630-1080 mm).
Noel Mejia (2015.05.14)
Which telescope's better: Levenhuk Strike 50 NG or Levenhuk Strike 80 ng?
Customer service:
Levenhuk Strike 80 NG Telescope is preferable due to a larger objective lens diameter (aperture).
CLARK KRAMER (2015.04.07)
Hello, Levenhuk! Tell me please... can I use Levenhuk 5x Barlow Lens with this telescope?
Customer service:
No, if you use Levenhuk 5x Barlow Lens with Levenhuk Strike 50 NG Telescope, the highest practical power of the instrument will be exceeded. We recommend using 3x Barlow lens (included in the kit).
Julia Mell (2015.02.04)
Hello, I have a couple of questions. Why do I need batteries to use this telescope? Where do I insert them?
Customer service:
The backlighting in the finder scope of the Levenhuk Strike 50 NG telescope works on batteries. The batteries should be inserted in the battery compartment, which you can find on the finder scope itself.
Marshall Colon (2015.01.01)
Hello! And still images are upside down... tell me what to do to make them direct? At least so they don't reverse up and down?
Customer service:
Produced images are reversed from left to right. Unfortunately there's no possibility to make them completely direct as we don't have suitable 0.965" accessories at the moment.
Jordan Poole (2014.12.20)
I really like this telescope. Exceptional quality!
Customer service:
Thank you for your feedback on Levenhuk Strike 50 NG Telescope!
Jordan Poole (2014.12.19)
Bought this telescope. When I started to observe a house next to mine, the image was reversed upside-down. What should I do with it?
Customer service:
Levenhuk Strike 50 NG Telescope comes with a diagonal mirror included in the kit. This mirror will correct the upside down image. To get completely direct images with refractors you should also use an erecting prism. Unfortunately, it cannot be used with this telescope, since it has non-standard barrel diameter.
Ivan Slater (2014.12.03)
What lenses come in the kit?
Customer service:
Levenhuk Strike 50 NG Telescope comes with 3x Barlow Lens, 20 mm and 6 mm eyepieces.
Ivan Slater (2014.12.02)
Hello!
1. Can I observe from my balcony?
2. What is a material of the optical tube?
3. Are batteries for the finderscope included in the kit?
Customer service:
1. Yes, the Levenhuk Strike 50 NG Telescope is ideally suited for observations from your backyard, balcony, or rooftop. 2. The tube body material is firm plastic. 3. Batteries are not included in the kit.
Ivan Slater (2014.12.01)
Can I observe comets, the Milky Way, Solar System planets?
Customer service:
With the Levenhuk Strike 50 NG telescope you will be able to see detailed views of the Moon, constellations, Solar System planets (seen as stars), the Milky Way.
sandy rosenberg (2014.11.06)
I want to buy a telescope for my granddaughters, aged 9 and 11 (very smart), but can't see any difference between the descriptions of the Strike 50 and the 60. Why should I perhaps buy the 60 if the 50 is just as good? What's the telescope difference to justify the price difference?
Customer service:
Dear Sandy, thank you for interest in Levenhuk products.
The Levenhuk Strike 60NG telescope is a little bit more powerful as it comes with a 60 mm objective lens diameter and 700 mm focal length. The Levenhuk Strike 50NG model comes with a 50 mm aperture and 600 mm focal length. It means that you will be able to see more details with the help of the Strike 60NG model.

Is there any additional information you might need?

Looking forward to your reply.
Nick Hope (2014.10.29)
I use 20 mm eyepiece with 3x Barlow lens. I tried to focus but the image is still blurred. What might be the problem?
Customer service:
We recommend you contact our Customer Service Department to solve this problem.
Ted Chandler (2014.10.06)
I guess this is the simplest model and the cheapest one in the product range... but the quality is surprisingly good. It was my first telescope, now I have more powerful, complex ones. So I highly recommend it to beginners.
Customer service:
Thank you for your feedback on Levenhuk Strike 50 NG Telescope.
Susan Elzey (2014.10.05)
My daughter practically begged me to buy her one of these. I hesitated at first, because I was never into astronomy and thought that it’s really difficult and I was also worried that my daughter would be disappointed and the thing would just be collecting dust and I’d have to sell it at the next yard sale. But I gave in in the end, since the price is not high, at least it’s not the most expensive thing she’s ever asked me to buy. Apparently this purchase happened to be a happy exception. It’s been three months since we got it shipped, and my daughter uses it at least once a week. I think it’s a good sign, none of her hobbies lasted so long before. It also helps us spend more time together, she gets really excited when she finds something new and always shares her discoveries with me. I think I might be a little bit into astronomy now too =)

Customer service:
Thank you for your feedback on Levenhuk Strike 50 NG.
Andres (2014.10.01)
I bought this telescope, everything's great, the quality is good... but tell me one thing... where should I insert Barlow lens? I do it this way: Barlow lens, then diagonal mirror and finally 20 mm eyepiece. And nothing... I can't see anything. Where's my mistake?
Customer service:
The correct order is: diagonal mirror - Barlow lens - eyepiece. Or first Barlow lens and then an eyepiece.
Mitchell Gleason (2014.10.01)
I think this model is one of the best options among telescopes for children available on the market. It’s as easy to use as a toy, but at the same time it’s almost like a real telescope with glass optics and everything. I mean it’s a lot more useful for kids, because playing with this scope, a child acquires skills in working with real telescopes.
Customer service:
Thank you for your feedback on Levenhuk Strike 50 NG Telescope.

Gave it to my boy on his birthday, he is 7. My son is absolutely delighted, now it's even harder to get him to bed in the evening) I think that this telescope is just great for kids - it's small, simple and affordable. And it's great when kids these days have interesting hobbies, something to get them away from the internet. I guess I'm gonna buy him a more serious model when he gets a little older)
Customer service:
Thank you for your feedback on the Levenhuk Strike 50 NG telescope.
Max Ball (2014.08.20)
Will I see Mercury, Venus and Mars?
Customer service:

Joseph Parker (2014.08.07)
As I remember the maximum useful magnification is D*2 = 100. When why it's 200x in the specification table?
Customer service:
200x is the maximum magnification of the Levenhuk Strike 50 NG telescope that you can obtain using accessories included in the kit.
Randy Os (2014.07.26)
But description reads "Apart from the telescope itself, you also get the optics for astronomical and terrestrial observations". There is certainly a mistake either in the description or in your answer...
Customer service:
There are no mistakes, with accessories included in the standard kit you will get direct (not inverted), but mirrored image, which is acceptable for terrestrial observations.
Randy Os (2014.07.25)
Hello! What can I do to get correctly oriented not mirrored images when observing terrestrial objects? Thanks
Customer service:
You should use an erecting prism. Unfortunately suitable erecting prism is currently unavailable.
MIKE BAIRD (2014.04.13)
Hello! I bought this telescope (Levenhuk Strike 50 NG). I'm a beginner and I can't understand one thing... Well, when I insert diagonal prism into the telescope and then F20mm or F6mm eyepiece I can see everything very good (the Moon appears very clear, its craters are not seen that well but still good enough). When after diagonal prism I insert 3x Barlow and then eyepieces the image gets very blurred. The Moon seems like just a glowing spot. So with Barlow lens I can't see anything... why? what am I doing wrong?
Customer service:
With Barlow lens It's better to use F20mm eyepiece. And don't forget to focus the telescope properly.
PAULA (2014.04.04)
Which one's better? Levenhuk Strike 60 NG or Levenhuk Strike 50 NG ?
Customer service:
Levenhuk Strike 60 NG is a preferable choice.
Guest (2014.04.04)
will the image be 'mirrored'?
Customer service:
Yes, the image will be 'mirrored'.
Guest (2014.04.04)
1.) What's the maximum useful magnification? 2.) Is it possible to observe terrestrial objects? 3.) does it produce direct or reversed images?
Customer service:
1. The maximum useful magnification can be calculated as D * 2, where D - diameter of the objective lens. Thus we get 100x. 2. Yes, you can observe terrestrial objects with Levenhuk Strike 50 NG model. 3. The image will be "mirrored".
Levenhuk ;) (2014.03.25)
Hello! I've been wondering, on the box it is written that I can get 200x magnification with this telescope, but, in fact, I am only able to get 100x. Could you kindly explain how can I get 200x?
Customer service:
With 6 mm eyepiece and 3x Barlow Lens you can achieve even 300-fold increase. But 100x is the magnification that does not cause any quality loss. Higher magnifications make images blurred.
Randall Q. (2013.12.06)
Is it possible to use solar filter instead of lunar filter?
Customer service:
Solar filters are supposed to be used for solar observations only.
Thomas Riley (2013.10.26)
Hi. I've read all the questions and answers but still didn't understand. Is there erecting prism in the kit? Some people say there isn't, some people say there is, but the image still will be mirrored.
Customer service:
Up-to-date information on the contents of the kit is available in the product description. To get an erect image you need an erecting prism, which is not included in the kit, but may be purchased separately.
Susan Wylie (2013.10.21)
Hello. I'm gonna travel by plane after the purchase. What size is that box and how do you pack it?
Should I park the telescope (packed) in the baggage or should I take it as a cabin baggage?
Customer service:
The telescope comes in original packaging with a sturdy printed carton, as it's shown on the product page. Package size is 32.3?13.8?6.3 in. You should check where it's better to carry the box with your airline.
William (2013.09.22)

Blaine Hofmann (2013.07.03)
what's the difference between Levenhuk Strike 80 NG and Levenhuk Strike 50 NG?
Customer service:
The difference between Levenhuk Strike 80 NG and Levenhuk Strike 50 NG is in the objective lens diameter. The greater the diameter, the more magnification and the higher the image quality.
Clair (2013.06.29)
Is it true that if you look through the Levenhuk strike 50ng telescope the image is upside down?

Is it possible to use this device for terrestrial observations with 1.25" erecting prism (45° erecting prism) ?
Customer service:
No, the prism doesn't fit, because this telescope has smaller barrel diameter.
Carl Nelson (2013.05.18)
Hello! Can u please tell me if the image in this model mirrored or inverted?
Customer service:
The image produced by the Levenhuk Strike 50 NG model is mirrored (reversed left-to-right).
Jose Rogers (2013.03.27)
Tell me about objective lenses of Levenhuk strike 50, 60, 80 ng..., how many elements..., material and does it have any coating?
Customer service:
Levenhuk Strike series - achromatic refractors with multi-coated optics made of glass.

Is it true that Levenhuk Strike 50, 60 and 80 NG only differ by magnification because of different focal lengths and objective lens diameters? Or are there other differences?
Customer service:
Yes, that's correct, the only differences are objective lens diameter and focal length.

And also it says that it's possible to observe sunspots. Does it mean that there are some filters in the kit? If there aren't and they are supposed to be purchased separately, why is it determined as an "out of the box" ability then?
Customer service:
The kit does not include a solar filter, but it can be purchased separately.
The contents of the telescope's kit is described in "The kit includes" section. This model is suitable for Sun observations using a special filter.

What about an erecting prism or an eyepiece? R they included in the kit or not?
I can't find anything about it in the description!! So it's not claer if it's necessary to buy it, if the customer wants to look at an erect image.
Customer service:
There are no such accessories in the kit. But they can be purchased separately.
