MAGUS E10S 10х/20mm Eyepiece with scale (D 23.2mm)

The E10S 10x magnification eyepiece is equipped with a scale on the plane of the field diaphragm. It serves as a regular eyepiece with 10x magnification, and it can also measure the size of objects or their elements. The scale is marked in millimeters and microns. To take measurements, the eyepiece must first be calibrated for each objective that you plan to use. The E10S eyepiece fits into a 23.2mm tube.

Calibration

To carry out the calibration, you will need a calibration slide with a scale division of 0.01mm. Place the slide on the stage and focus the microscope on its scale. Then, rotate the eyepiece in the tube until the divisions on the slide and eyepiece scales are parallel to each other. Then, you need to make a calculation.

Calculation

You need to calculate how the divisions on the scales of the eyepiece and the calibration slide (a stage micrometer) relate: How many divisions on the eyepiece scale fall into the slide scale (for objectives with low magnification) or how many divisions on the slide fall into the eyepiece scale (for objectives with medium or high magnification). Then, use the formula: E=TL/A, where
E – the division of the eyepiece scale;
T – the division of the stage micrometer scale marked on the stage micrometer (0.01mm);
L – the number of divisions on the stage micrometer;
A – the number of divisions on the eyepiece scale.

Record the number obtained as a result of the calculations for each objective. The size of the samples is calculated as follows: first, determine how many divisions on the eyepiece scale that it occupied. This number is then multiplied by the result obtained from the formula for each objective. This number will reflect the linear value of the sample.
